In the shadow of Norwich’s cathedral and surrounded by ancient buildings, on Tuesday my Daniel Tour visited the Norwich school – a round trip of 440 miles! Well worth it. Head Librarian Cheryl Wood and her team Deborah and Mark gave me a lovely warm welcome and, judging from the initial feedback, my session in the nearby ‘Great Hospital’ went down well with Year 8 students (plus a few year 7s who’d recently been reading Resistance). I last visited the school a couple of summers ago when I took part in their slickly organised Literary Festival involving schools in the area (about 700 students) alongside Carnegie Medal winner Tim Bowler. I hope all students who bought a signed and dedicated copy of Daniel enjoy the book – and as with all such students on the tour …. thank you for contributing to my fundraising effort. Also a massive thank you to Cheryl and the school for purchasing some extra copies which will be distributed to other schools and librarians soon. I hope it isn’t too long before I visit the school again.
